Hong Kong April 14 2011

Today is our second day in Hong Kong. The plan will be to ride on the famous ting ting bus, spend some time in Central Hong Kong and then go up Victoria Peak for sunset scenery. Bad experience with our beds at the 'hotel'. Three of us were bitten by bed mites (damn itchy and keep waking up middle of the night). By 9am we were all set to start our day and nothing beats starting the day with a good breakfast with dim sum. Too bad for us though, the traditional dim sum restaurant didn't serve much choices of dim sum, perhaps we arrived too late. due to the unattractiveness of the dim sum, i don't bother to snap any photos at all..

Next is the ting ting bus. Cheap public transport ($2/ride), doubt you will find anything cheaper than this in Hong Kong..

the driver compartment

this is how close between ting ting buses when they pass by side by side

we stand behind inside the ting ting bus to enjoy the experience and also easier for sightseeing and camwhoring

managed to sit on the upper deck of the ting ting bus

saw this while on ting ting bus. at first we thought this is the police HQ, but found out later that this lane is just opposite their Central Government Administrative building and the police force are there to prevent some per-arranged demonstration by the public related to the raising fees on public transport

i think the taller building is the latter addition to this row of flats cum shops. perhaps it used to be an alley in between two row of buildings before they build this new building

we had our lunch around 12 something noon after we finished our ting ting bus ride. went to a small restaurant packed with people and finally managed to find an empty table. tried the pork porridge with vegetable. think the vegetable was overcooked from the dull green colour of it.

i was told by airin and wee ee this is the longest escalator in Hong Kong and I think it really is!

Duddell Street Steps and Gas Lamps, one of the tourist attractions in Central and appear in many TVB dramas and Hong Kong movies

this is the Starbucks beside Duddell Street Steps and it's uniqueness lies in that half of the cafe is modern and half traditional coffee house

doesn't it look just like any other char chan teng that we always see inside Hong Kong movies and dramas? where the actors and actresses have their bowl of wantan mee or breakfast set A,B or C, or the triad rivals negotiating over lost territories...

sai yung, damn sai and damn expensive, but DAMN nice, I mean the wantan, not the mee
